The Montreal Biodome, housed in the city’s Olympic Velodrome, is a unique ecological museum and stimulating learning centre. WAA helped transform the former sporting facility into four artificial ecosystems: the Costa Rican rainforest, the Boreal Forest of Quebec, the St. Lawrence River Valley, as well as the North and South Poles. In contrast to a typical zoo environment, WAA designed spaces for the resident wildlife population which closely resemble their natural habitats by replicating local geology, topography, vegetation, and temperature.
